5 weeks just passed like that. it seems like i had been doing this forever! almost every week, i make a trip to Raffles Hotel, do the same routine like clocking in and changing into uniform, setting up the booth, taking stocks and serving customers.
just a mere 5 weeks, i made new friends, close and acquaintances. although i may not see most of them after the operation is over, still, im glad that ive come across these people once in my life. who knows, we may see each other on the streets some day. Singapore isnt that big right?
despite getting into this job through Hui Mei, i didnt have much the chance to work with her since most of the time, she was involved in roadshows while i was stationed at the booth. naturally, i would spend more time with the friends i made at the booth. not that ive forgetten about her (as she claims), we just spent more time with different group of people. or maybe im just reading into this too much, maybe shes just joking *shrugs*
i remember the day when i reported the first day of work. my hair was long and unbunned. seniors and management staff were unhappy with the way i was. was told to pin my hair a couple of times. Jonathan was the ticking bomb and you would never know whether hes joking or serious with you. he told me to go buy a netting, but yea i didnt lol. Yusof had me going into the toilet a few times too, and also ordering me around to do stuff.
i dont blame him, im actually grateful because well, he taught me the ropes and slowly i got to know almost every aspect of the booth. even though i was in charge of the stocks during the 3rd week onwards, i had so many things to learn, like the tallying of stocks and where to get the cash flow when none of the seniors reported to work on time.
Kelda was fortunately there to help me set up the cashier and telling me what to do, which im really grateful for. cashiering is fun, really, only when there is no problems like customers telling you to change their orders or entering the wrong info.
Fauzy, the main cashier and also the team leader of the booth when all the management staff went for roadshows, what can i say about him? hes a fun guy, hes like a monkey at times and also a shadow of Jonathan during peak hours where you get to see him so robotic and frowning all the way. there was a time where we were made to stay back after the booth closed, there he was screaming his head off, lecturing all of us to communicate better as a team.
what he said make sense. never assume. in the hospitality line, a friend can be a foe, a foe can be a friend. you never know whos next to backstab you.
here are some camwhoring pictures i took with some coworkers.
- camwhoring behind the whiteboard
- camwhoring again
- last day of operation
- my lovely team
- everyone involved in one way or another
- without them, work wouldnt have been fun
if i could, i would want to come back again, if schools allows me to. graduating in 6 months time, i wouldnt know where i would end up after graduation. as much as i love to get out of this school, i have no freaking idea of what i want to do next.
speaking of school, the timetable is out, which i will post it up later.
