24th October 2008
This is my first attempt writing a poem. A revised version by the lecturer further below. Not that bad for a first-timer I guess.
…
So vulnerable and petrified
Trapped all alone in the dark.
No matter how hard she tried
She could not find her way out.
So cold and trembling
She scrambled around with no eyes
Hoping that someone could hear her calls.
‘Hello?’ she hollered
Her echo greeted her.
‘Anyone there?’ she tried again
But there was only silence.
Too exhausted and demoralised
She wept uncontrollably for the first time.
Just as when she was about to give up
A hand gently tapped over her shoulder.
The bright light shone directly on her
A fleeting moment of blindness
And her hand was pulled
Lifting her up on her feet.
They started running.
Faster and faster
Until she could no longer move.
With the light still in sight
She saw her saviour’s visage.
This cannot be.
She was staring right back
At her own duplicate.
…
trapped, alone in the dark
no matter how hard
scrambled around with no eyes
hello? greeting echo
anyone there?
and her hand was pulled
they started running
faster and faster
until she could no longer move
this cannot be
she was staring right back
at her own duplicate
